With due respect for the late Peter Powell, who established 'Angel Walks' in 1985, and with deference to his family, Islington Archaeology and History Society offers literary and historic strolls by private arrangement.
Many members of the Society have specialisms centring on the lives, times and works of local writers and artists including Joe Orton, George Orwell, and many others who lived and worked here. Orwell is an especially popular subject, and the walk is rooted in the most recent scholarship, and routed through streets he knew well.
We are always happy to conduct walks for a modest consideration, with time for discussion and debate afterwards. E-mail This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it .
TESTIMONIALS
"It was great having two walks. In fact, of the ten days we spent in London, the day we spent with you was my absolute favorite. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to show us around and chat. I had a wonderful time!"
