Autumn Walk with the Islington Mayor Print E-mail

Islington Archaeology and History Society is delighted to be supporting the Mayor of Islington's annual Health Walk, this year with the theme of visiting sites related to medical history, and incorporating the insights of local residents.

Each year around 100 people, mostly aged over 50, join Islington Health Walks for the annual Autumn Amble.

This year the walk will explore an area of the borough steeped in fascinating history. We will take in sights of medical interest in EC1, dating right back to the bubonic plagues of 1665. Find out where the plague pits were and where there once stood a “lying in hospital for women of good stock”.

After the walk you are invited to Finsbury Library for complementary refreshments and an opportunity to find out more about the medical history of our borough.

Meet outside Finsbury Library, 245 St John’s Street, EC1V on Friday 3 October at 11 am.
