Historical Stroll along the Western Stretch of the Regents Canal

Meeting Point: Angel Tube Station
Time: 6pm for 6:15 departure

Our current lecture series ends after the AGM in June – details for members enclosed with the new Newsletter – but we still find plenty to celebrate during the summer before resuming our lectures in the Autumn.

This year we will be taking in the view of Islington from the water. Local architect and designer Robin King will lead two walks along the Canal Path. The first stroll will go east from the tunnel and take place on Wednesday 16 July, meeting at Angel Station at 6 for 6.15pm walking ‘overground’ towards the towpath access in Danbury Street. Robin is hoping that ‘Angel 2’ might be open to provide tea etc. The walk will last about 1 ½ hours and we will look at the history, development (including new proposals) and wildlife en route. To return people can either retrace their steps or ‘come up’ at Kingsland Road for the 394 bus, Mare Street for the 38, 30, 277 buses or Victoria Park for the 277 bus.

The second stroll will be on Wednesday 13 August again meeting at Angel Station at 6 for 6.15pm and we will walk ‘overground’ this time to the west end of the tunnel at Muriel Street. People can leave at Camden Town for the tube and buses 214 and 274, or continue past the Zoo, Regent’s Park and even on to Little Venice.

The cost is £3 per walk or £5 for both walks. To book a place, please contact us.
