A Teenager at War

Speaker: Harley Sherlock
Time: 8:00 PM
Venue: Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London N1

Local architect to address joint IA&HS meeting with the Islington Society

Harley Sherlock, one of the Borough's most respected and renowned architects, has kindly agreed to speak about his new autobiographical volume, "A Teenager at War".

Having seen active service during the Second World War, Harley went on to complete groundbreaking housing work in Islington, and his new book complements his previous publications which include "Cities are Good for us" and "An Architect in Islington".  One of his lifetime's achievements has been to prove beyond question the sustainability of low-rise housing with the sense of community that lives alongside, using no more land than that occupied by high-rise and its lack of a human touch.

What inspired a teenager at war to go on to join the Royal Institute of British Architects?  Harley will tell all.
