Our lecture programme, on the third Wednesday of the month, is now filled to June 2011, to continue in September. Not that we sleep in the summer months; there will be walks and visits arranged a little nearer the time.
I'm looking forward to our visit from Camden History Society on 15 December, in their 40th year of researching and publishing, and to offer congratulations to our good friends and neighbours.
In January we shall welcome Carole Walker, who has published a newly researched biography of the philanthropist Caroline Chisholm, whose blue plaque I walk past frequently. February for some reason is a lecture when we usually look at the performing arts, and Colin D Brooking will present on 'Charterhouse Square and the re-birthing of Theatre'.
In March, Chris Coates will give an overview of the TUC Library and Archives; and Kathy Chater will return in April to speak on insanity, its treatment and its historical records.
The Rt Hon Lord Smith of Finsbury, President of IA&HS, has very kindly agreed to give an inaugural address in May.
In June, following our AGM, our academic adviser Lester Hillman will speak on the remarkable number of bi-centennials that occur during 2011.
Further details will follow on our Events page.
Best to all,
Andy
