The Society organizes lectures, walks, visits & outings throughout the year. It also arranges regular archaeological site visits for members, usually in the City. IA&HS also aims to document archaeological findings in the Islington area.The Islington Archaeology & History Society was established in 1975. Its primary objectives are:

- To arrange lectures, visits and courses in relation to the archaeology and history of the London Borough of Islington;
- To publish work on the archaeology and history of the Borough;
- To cooperate with local government bodies and other agencies in matters of planning and development within the Borough in order to record and protect Islington's sites which are of archaeological and historical importance;
- To raise funds, if necessary, for the above activities.
